Our [Western] science has cut itself off from an adequate understanding of the Subject of Cognizance, of the mind. This is precisely the point where our present way of thinking needs to be amended, perhaps by a bit of blood-transfusion from Eastern thought.

About This Quote

The rise of modern science is not without its problems. The very act of science requires the separation of man from nature. Man cannot see the whole picture, so he must rely on his senses to learn information. If he can’t see it or hear it, he can only assume that it isn’t true.

This tendency to assume that evidence casts doubt on evidence has led to many fallacies in modern science, including positivism and materialism. The notion that man can’t see the whole picture has also led scientists to ignore the well-documented effects of the mind on physical systems.
